Unlocking the Power of Visual Intelligence on Your iPhone: A Guide to Visual Lookup and Live Text
Exploring the World Through Your iPhone Camera: Using Visual Lookup
Visual Lookup, a powerful feature available on iPhones running iOS 15 and later (and compatible iPads with iPadOS 15.1+), transforms your device into a knowledge hub. It allows you to identify objects, landmarks, plants, and animals directly from your photos. Here’s how to harness its potential:
Accessing Visual Lookup from the Photos App
- Select any photo in your Photos app.
- Locate and tap the information icon (it may appear as an “i” or dynamically change to represent the prominent object in the image, like a dog or flower).
- Tap “Look Up [Object Name]” to unveil the Visual Lookup results. You’ll be presented with information cards, web links, and more.
Quick Tip: For faster access, try long-pressing the object itself within the photo and selecting “Look Up.”
Real-Time Text Extraction with the Camera App
Live Text also functions in real-time through your Camera app. Simply point your camera at a document or sign:
- Aim your iPhone’s camera at the text you wish to capture.
- Tap the text selection icon (the scanner icon) that appears.
- Select the text and copy it for use in other apps.
